Like Radiohead? Like Interpol? Like Band References?

Well, now that I've got your attention.....I have something for you.

If we can ignore that unintentionally creepy beginning to this post, I stumbled across a musical gem that I guarantee you will love.

I know it seems foolish to make such a guarantee, and you might be right, but until the end of the year - if you listen to this album and don't love it, I'll do your laundry for the rest of the year. That's right. For all of 2011.

So act now.

As I was stumbling across the Interweb, I tripped over an undiscovered music post from some interns at a radio station and before I knew it I had downloaded Tan Vampires album "For Physical Fitness" from iTunes.

Anyone that knows me knows I don't easily....ahem...part with money for music these days.

After previewing the array of interesting, layered arrangements of guitar, synth, and swooshing electronic soundscapes all tied together by a voice indescribably effortless and earnest, I was left no choice.

So take the challenge and let me know how Tan Vampires change your life.

And who knows. I might be folding your socks soon.

But not likely.

Our Musical Style

When people find out about our band, they always ask us the same question....

"Which band member gets the most Valentines?"

What an absurd, immature question to ask. (It's me, BTW)

The next question they ask, "What do you guys sound like?"

Defining your musical style, can be like trying to describe the consistency of Jello to an alien. Unless Bill Cosby has started an interplanetary campaign I'm unaware of, it would be pretty difficult. Easier to just give the poor Martian some Jigglers.

So I could stumble over adjectives, and dissect our music into obscure indie music and 1970's unknowns references, but instead I stumbled across this video online that is dead on. We all do something like this.

So I'm having an instant guilt reflex here.....I have a confession......I tricked you. While John Gomm's music is extremely cool/amazing/out-of-this-world just like ours, it doesn't bare any resemblance stylistically. I guess, much like the Jello Paradox, you'll just have to come out to our next show and enjoy a tasty, jiggly square of our music. Call ahead....I'll bake up a batch.

To make up for my deception, here's a bonus:

What is Punk Rock? (see below)

During a grueling/productive/insightful practice today, we discovered a common thread that runs through the band.

We all love that sound when you first open a jar of pickles.

Also, we share a fiery love for the band Fugazi. Why you ask? Please study the following equation:

Political lyrics + loud, intense music + contempt for the music industry + a general "We're doing things our way and if you don't like it too f*ckin bad" attitude = Fugazi

For the final exam, you should also commit to memory the following equation:

   Loud, intense music
   Political lyrics
   Contempt for the music industry
+ A general "WDTOWAIYDLITFB"attitude
   Punk

Then again, if we apply the Transitive Property of Equality, it is probably easier to simply remember the equation:

Fugazi = Punk

Still don't get it? Watch the video below. Damn the man.

3 out of 4 Productive Members of Society recommend Fugazi.

P.S.  Would have given my worldly possessions and the lateral 80% of my hair to have been at this show.
